View from the Valley

Well if you have money to blow on wine here is your chance.  Auction Napa Vally, formerly the Napa Valley Wine Auction, is a charity event that lasts 68 hour and started yesterday.  Living in the valley, I have watched this event change the valley over the years.  First off my communte of 1 hour to work will now be increased to 2 hours.  If you are going north of Yountville this weekend you can kiss your day goodbye and you may want to bring a picnic lunch.  Oh and there isn’t a gas station from Yountville to St. Helena.  Everyone who is anyone is here this weekend to buy thousands of dollars worth of wine, eat thousands of dollars worth of food, all while trying to impress the person next to him who also just maxed out their credit card.  Hotel rooms prices are raised from your average summer rate of $400 per night to almost $1000 at other places and restaurants are packed.  So why am I writing about something I am bagging on so bad?  To show you guys just what it is like here in the valley during this time.

This year you can bid on items right over the internet.  So if you want to play vintner for a day or have a gourmet meal prepared by Julian Serrano of Picasso in Las Vegas this is the time to do it.  You don’t even have to get dressed.  Nor do you have to spend all the money.  Just check out these lots

Now if you feel the need to join us here the cost to get into the auction is $5000.00 for two people, but wait, that includes your bidding paddles.  And if you feel like joining us don’t forget your black american express card.  You will need the higher limit.
