Recently on a message board there was a post about how during the Idol Gives Back Special a commercial for Burger King featuring their “King” aired. The whole concept of this “King” and his mannerisms creeped this poster out. I felt a huge sigh of relief as I have been feeling this same exact way. I am not alone in feeling that the King creeps me out!
Every commercial featuring this “king” has hit me the wrong way. I think its because most of the time this “king” is just in inappropriate places or is acting stalkerish. Anyone recall the commercial with the lady waking up next to the “king” in her bed. Talk about eww! I would be shrieking “Get out of my bed!” There was also the one with him creeping around a football stadium. And another stalkerish one where he is stalking someone outside a skyscraper.
No thank you I will take Grimace and the Hamburglar any day over some stalker king character. I just keep wondering who thought this would be a good idea and if they did any customer surveys or concept tests before unleashing this horrible character. If not they should be looking into a new marketing group and employ Greenfield and OTX Research in their next marketing campaign before frightening people into eating at McDonald’s over Burger King.

WOW! I thought I was the only one too. I’ve always found “the King” very odd and wondered who in the world came up with the commercials.

He’s even scarier than the amount of fat and calories in the Triple Baconator!
