I should probably explain Sunshine Rewards

April 10th, 2008 · 2 Comments

I keep mentioning how Sunshine Rewards has pretty much paid for our trip to Disney. But what I haven’t explained is what exactly is Sunshine Rewards and how does it help pay for my or your vacation. So lets begin :)

Sunshine Rewards is a loyalty program where you get paid to do things you normally do online such as online shopping and giving your opinion. For example, when I shop online at Nordstrom I earn 3% cash back from Sunshine Rewards for signing into my account and clicking on a special tracking link that Sunshine Rewards has for Nordstrom. I am a huge Nordies fan so this is really helpful. Some other places you can earn “rewards” from shopping are Target (wedding and baby registries included!), Walmart, Sephora, Disney Shopping, and Kohl’s. There are actually hundreds of merchants available to shop from but it would take a lot of space if I tried to type them out.

So online shopping is one way to earn. What was that about surveys? Sunshine Rewards through partnerships with Greenfield and OTX (2 major survey companies) offers 2 daily surveys for 80 cents and 75 cents each. Most surveys last on average 20-30 minutes. Ok, I know it sounds crazy – 20 minutes to earn 80 cents – but they are actually really fun to do. Lately, Mike and I have been getting surveys on upcoming summer movies which means we get to watch the trailers for these movies before they are released and tell the movie studios how we really feel when watching these trailers. So its not boring but actually fun surveys.

Lastly, you can earn by doing paid offers which are usually in the form of a freebie or trial offer. For example, Blockbuster is a paid trial. If you are already wanting to give Blockbuster Online a try, then using the link on Sunshine Rewards will give you an extra $12. So basically your first month is free. There are also smaller offers that will earn you 50 cents each and in the process you will “earn” free samples for items like Aveeno Lotion or Maybelline Mascara. These offers rotate frequently so you never run out of things to do.

So now that you understand what Sunshine Rewards is all about and see the earnings banner on the right side bar you can see how fast 80 cent surveys and 50 cent offers add up. In case you are wondering, only 12% of that is from online shopping. The rest is approximately 16 months of doing daily surveys and freebie offers. So that is the short of how I’m paying for my trip to WDW this year. So whatever you are saving for think about trying out Sunshine Rewards with me. I’ll be glad to walk you through the process and show you around the forums :)

I just joined sunshine rewards two days ago. I put my cell phone number into a few of the links and now vendors are calling constantly while I am working. Do you know a way around this? I also want some tips on how to get the largest reward points without spending a lot of time at night on the site. I too am saving for a trip to WDW in May 2009 so I have 9 months of clicks and surveys.

    Hi Teresa,

I would suggest not putting in your cell phone number on links – use your home number so you don’t use up your cell minutes plus you probably have caller id there.

I also would recommend joining the forums to get tips and tricks on what works best.

I stick with shopping and surveys for the most part and have slowly added up all of those 80 cent surveys and shopping earnings (for things I was buying already) to get my current total.
