As a die-hard Disney fan I have been hearing for the past year and a half all about the new Toy Story ride/attraction that Disney is working on for both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. This ride will be similar to the Buzz Lightyear ride at WDW’s Magic Kingdom. You will ride in a moving pod and shoot a laser beam at targets and score points. This ride though will be centered around those games we use to play at the traveling carnivals. Both parks expect to open the ride in Mid to late May 2008. Soft openings - these are unannounced openings where if you happen to walk by a cast member might ask if you want to try a ride before it opens - are planned for early to mid-May.
Today while visiting one of my Disney message boards, I came across a post where someone linked a YouTube video from the Disneyland park. Disneyland was trying out the animatroic Mr. Potatohead with the crowd. Mr. Potatohead serves to try and talk you and I into coming and playing in the Toy Story Mania. What I found neat was how he interacted so well with the crowd. While there were some weak bits overall it was pretty neat and I’m sure will be tweaked out before the ride officially opends. After watching and seeing how neat this is going to be, I just had to share with everyone.
