Enchanted

I know I’m a tad behind with the times. I finally got around to watching Enchanted last night - the half animated and half “real-life” Disney princess movie that was a huge hit last fall/winter. Can I just say I absolutely loved this movie. Its been a long while since I have seen a movie this good in all aspects - singing, dancing, acting, storyline, music, and special effects. I am quite sad that it didn’t do better at the Academy Awards but then again Disney is a “big, bad” corporation that we can’t support ;)

But enough about that. Enchanted is the tale of a fair maiden, Giselle, that meets the prince and they are to be married the next day. But the evil stepmother gets involved and sends Giselle to present day New York City. Talk about culture shock. Luckily for Giselle she meets some nice New Yorkers who shows her that Happily Ever After can have many different endings and its ok to “think outside the box” and make your own decisions. It has a nice message that keeps with Disney’s Princess stories yet is modernized to show that girls do whatever their heart desires without becoming a feminist tyrant.

I thought it was especially neat to see what one of those fabulous animated musical scenes, such as The Little Mermaid’s “Under the Sea”, come to life in this movie in the “How Does She Know” musical scene. It was the same Disney magic we are use to in the animated movies but with real people and real action. Just absolutely fabulous. My last favorite thing about this movie is how they took pieces of all the princess movies and laced them into this movie with simple ease. It reminded me of my favorite movies without going overboard or looking awkward.

If you haven’t seen it yet, you definitely need to rent this movie ASAP. I am returning it to Netflix today and just ordered it through Disney’s new DVD Gift Express Service because on Sunshine Rewards you can get $10 back for ordering through their link. Not too shabby.

It is such a great movie. I watched the DVD today. And loved it again as much as in the theater.

I love this movie! All the little hints of Disney Classics was great, including the name of the law firm being the writers of the songs in Snow White. I now clean my house to the “Happy Little Working Song”, although thankfully no real vermin show up!

This was a great movie. I agree. We added it to our collection immediately. I couldn’t stand to wait.
