I’m a passive sports fan meaning I’ll watch and get excited but only if I’m with others or involved in brackets of some sort. I use to be big into sports back in high school but then got burned out in College. Professional athlete strikes, owner lockouts, and ridiculous salaries didn’t help either keep my passion for sports up either. But that is another rant for another day.

So here we are just a few days away from the Final 4 teams in Men’s College Basketball duking it out to be labeled the National Champion of College Basketball for 2007-2008. To be honest I haven’t followed basketball at all this year but when my favorite loyalty site, Sunshine Rewards, ran a forum contest to create a bracket and win a $25 gift certificate I couldn’t pass it up. After all it was free to create a bracket and participate and it allowed me to have possible bragging rights with all of my forum friends for the next year since my bowl mania bracket didn’t do so well.

So in case you are curious, I did pretty darn well in the East and South brackets but my West and Midwest brackets got shot early on by the underdogs. I should have known to pick one or two but didn’t think at the time. I went on history of the team and seedings and came up with my brackets. My theory seemed to work well for me as I ended up with 5 right in the Elite 8 round and all 4 of my picks in the Final Four even though I caught some major slack here in Houston from UT fans. Something in my gut told me not to discount Memphis. So as of right now I’m in 3rd place in my brackets and I’m anxiously waiting to see what this weekend will bring.
