I know there are alot of Disney purists and a lot of Pixar fans. I fall in between where I don’t mind Pixar but I don’t love those movies as much as I love the classic animated Disney Films. For the longest I have been awaiting Disney to put out another animated movie but it just didn’t seem like it was going to happen with the embrace of technology. But today I learned otherwise.
Disney is heading back to their roots with The Princess and the Frog which is scheduled to be released in 2009. I am assuming it will be like all other Disney releases with a May or June release date. The Princess and the Frog is a fairy tale centered on a young girl named Princess Tiana who lives in New Orleans’ French Quarter during the Jazz Age. Princess Tiana will be Disney’s first black princess in an animated film and will fit well with the other Disney Princesses. I would assume we will start seeing her make appearances in the parks next year and become a permanent fixture. Any new princess is fun to have around the parks but I think this one will be especially great for young girls who have been missing out on a princess they can identify with. I also like how it is being based in New Orleans which will breathe life back into Louisiana and put Louisiana on the map in a positive manner. I look forward to seeing if they keep any of the old Cajun fairytale (which this story is based on) in this new movie or if they cut it out. I’m hoping they put a little Cajun into this movie

Gotta love another Princess! I had heard they were going to introduce the first black princess, but I didn’t know the story! Looking forward to it!

I read about this a while back. I’m so glad it’s looking to be a reality.
