If you’ve been following my trip planning for the United Kingdom trip coming up in May, I left off with *thinking* that my dad would be heading over in June and we were still planning on going over for a visit. Everyone finally received their passports last week so we are all set to go. Or so we thought. As of today we once again do not have a start date for my dad going over there. So Mike and I have been going back and forth on what we should do. We have airline tickets paid for, passports obtained, and vacation time booked at work. So at this point we have decided just to go and book some hotel rooms and have some fun.
So I have been scouring the internet since last week trying to find affordable (and safe) hotels in England, Scotland, and Dublin for May which is the beginning of peak travel season in the UK. I did come across HotelReservations.com which is a travel website dedicated to helping you find hotel deals in the US, Canada, and Europe. I went ahead and gave the site a try by putting in my dates for the Ireland leg of our trip and came up with multiple hotels ranging from $40 a night to over $300 a night. Each hotel listed was rated under the 5 star system and had very useful information about the hotel – such as one hotel does not provide towels so you should bring your own. I don’t know of any other travel site that tells you detailed information like that!
I also got a little curious and decided to go ahead and price a trip from Houston to Athens, Greece since that is my new travel destination obsession (and a place I’d love to go honeymoon at). I was able to quickly and easily price a vacation package which included air and hotel for 2 weeks in December for under $5,000 for both Mike and I. Talk about cheap! I am pretty sure our trip to the UK which is only 10 days is costing the two of us close to that or more. I’ve been impressed so far with what I am finding in my searches on HotelReservations.com that I think I’m going to start looking at their website first when I need to book an overnight stay or a long vacation.
So give HotelReservations.com a try next time you need a reservation for a hotel, rental car, a flight, or even try looking at a vacation package. I have already bookmarked this site and will be giving them a try by booking a hotel in Ireland through them. I’ll definitely post an update in my trip report on how it all works out!
