Funny vacation memories
August 31st, 2008 · No Comments
Well, it wasn’t funny at the time, but I would have to day that the funniest trip I ever had to New York City would have to be the one we took last month, with our mediocre hotel. The comedy began when I got out of the car to request the valet park it. The person at the desk told me that Joe* would be right out. I waited. And waited. In fact, I waited so long that my mother called my cellphone to see what was taking so long. “Uh, Joe’s coming.” Doesn’t that sound like a Seinfeld skit? “So, what’s with valet parking if you have to wait a decade for your valet? I mean really.” The rest of our stay there was similarly odd.
For those of you looking for New York tours, check out Trusted Tours & Attractions. Their online travel guides have a great deal of valuable information. Also be sure to sign up for their newsletter. Sign up by tomorrow (August 31) and be entered to win a $150 Magellan’s Gift Certificate. Who knows, I may check out their rates on Cypress Gardens Florida if I ever decide to get old school on my trips to Orlando.

The vyrl coupon fiasco
August 28th, 2008 · No Comments
I’ll admit there, a part of me that is thinking “there’s a company that regulates coupons? How do I work for them?” Anyway, remember a couple of weeks ago when I blogged about the great coupons that were available on Facebook via the check it Out application? The ones distributed by the Vyrl marketing people. If you haven’t heard, they pulled the coupons, essentially saying that retailers should not accept there coupons. Fortinately, there’s been a large backlash against them, which you can read about at I heart CVS

Auto air conditioning
August 27th, 2008 · No Comments
I was in Florida last weekend. The only plus of Fay was that it ws cooler than it generally would be. However, I don’t know how Floridians survived without auto air conditioning. Of course, I’m sure that when their air conditioning fails, say, if they need a new A/C compressor, they need to get it fixed. Fortunately there are websites out there such as http://www.1airconditioning.com/ where you can save money on auto a/c parts when you meed them.

Don’t be fooled by work at home scams!
August 26th, 2008 · 4 Comments
It seems like every couple of weeks, one of the message boards I’m on has someone looking for legitimate work at home (WAH-often adds a M for Mother, although opportunities aren’t limited to one sex) opportunities. These queries are especially high this time of year, when kids go back to school and the holidays are coming up. When your e-mail is flooded with rebate processing and data entry offers, how do you know who to trust? Good Morning America did a piece on this very topic. In fact, Tory Johnson, the person who did the feature has a new book on working at home called Will Work from Home which is available at Barnes and Nobles. For even more on WAH/WAHM opportunies, check out Helping Moms Connect.

So, remember that LL Bean Visa I applied for?
August 25th, 2008 · No Comments
I got my rewards-I got $50 rewards dollars-not sure how that happened, but I’m not fighting it.
In other news, we had tax free weekend a couple of weeks ago here. I didn’t get anything extravagant, but a clip on the news has been bugging me-the guy was saying how he was buying a TV, because he couldn’t afford it otherwise. Call me mean, but if 5% means that much to you, you probably shouldn’t get new TV.

Those new pre-print coupon scanners at CVS
August 19th, 2008 · 2 Comments
Does your CVS have them? Mine does, and it’s great! I can just scan my ExtraCare card, and out print coupons. They’re like the ones you get on your receipts, so they’re good for a couple of weeks (I got one for $3 off of Revlon one week, then the next week they had a free after ECB offer-so I got paid $3 to buy lip gloss).
Mmm…I love my CVS.

A much needed solution
August 19th, 2008 · No Comments
I’m a big fan of the Internet. However, it frustrates me that there are times when a simple query in the search engine of your choice just doesn’t get you what you need. One place where we have had this issue is with professionals who can do household chores We’ve tried getting people out of the back of the newspaper, with mixed results. And one word of mouth reference does not mean that they’ll work for you. Household stuff like countertops in Boston where we live. Fortunately, there’s Clicksmart.com, a great source for boston countertops or anything other household service you need (or even things such as medical services.)
