In the past few months, I’ve been reading more couponing blogs to educate myself.  In their match-ups section, I frequently noticed that they had (very good) coupons listed from a magazine called All You .  Reading further into it, I found that the only newsstand All You is found on is Walmart’s.  I do not shop at Walmart, so I figured I’d skip it.  I then saw they had a promotional offer for two free issues via subscription.
I’ve read my two issues of my free trial magazines.  Honestly, I’m pretty meh on it.  I have gotten some coupons out of it, but I find that I have used a lower percentage of them than I do the Sunday paper’s coupons.  The magazine is ok-it seems to be mainly targeted at parents.  I got some good recipes, but I can those anywhere.  I don’t think I will be paying for a subscription.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with her blog, Kristin at Couponing to Disney has a feature on her blog called “5 a Day.“  Monday through Friday, five companies are selected to e-mail.  These e-mails can be complements, complaints, whatever.  Sincere e-mails are obviously best.  I decided to start trying this tactic after seeing the results some readers were getting. I usually only e-mail a couple a week-the ones a really do like.  I wrote to Terra Chips, telling them about how their chips remind me of vacations on JetBlue.  I got two coupons for $.55 off of Terra Chips, and $.55 off a Martha Stewart cleaning product.  I think I’ll e-mail more companies.

While there are no penny items at Staples this week, there are some other good buys.  The good news is that all of these sales are good for the entire week.   Black and white Staples composition notebooks are a dime a piece, limit three per household.  An eight-pack of yellow pencils is $.25 each, limit 4 per household.

Once again, the bulk of Staples sales this week are items for fifty cents.  BIC brand highlighters, Simply binders, and Staples brand rulers and translucent pencil boxes are all available for $.50 (with no minimum purchase), limit two of each item per household.
