Those ads on TV for schools….

by hedy on September 8, 2011

I’ve been watching some daytime TV lately (I work second shift). I cannot believe the number of ads for schools which offer certificates in things like medical assisting and legal studies.  Frankly, they know who their market is-I gotta admit a few of the “I work weird hours,” “I don’t make enough money” ads hit kind of close to home.

One ad which I find revoltingly cloying is one where a woman (whom I read as being a mother, specifically a single one) is wearing cotton scrub uniforms and making lunch.  Her young child asks her what she is wearing (believable).  The woman responds they they are called scrubs (such as the ones you can get at and that she wears them at her new job at a doctor’s office.  The son then asks her if she is nervous.  She responds that she’s not as she has a degree from the aforementioned for profit college. How cute.
