Options to paid 411…

Free Pictures | acobox.comSo last year I was out of town with some family friends.  We were sitting around waiting to decide where to go to dinner.  We needed their number-I immediately flipped open my phone and texted Google (their number is 466453) with the restaurant’s name and town.  My mother, meanwhile, went to the yellow pages.

If you’re out of town and need a number, but don’t want to pay for 411 (Verizon charges $1.99 a number), there are other options.  If you have a smartphone or internet-connected phone, you can just use Google.com to look for the information.  1-800-Free-411 is 411 that is free.  You do have to listen to a couple of ads, but to me it’s worth it to save money.  Free 411 has the bonus feature of texting you the number.  I’ve only discovered Google 411 (1-800-466-4411, which connects you to the number.
