Automatic savings plans…

by hedy on February 22, 2010

I think there is something I need to come clean with my readers about.  I’ve been going through a rough patch, and as such, haven’t been as on top of my savings and frugality.  I’m not necessarily ashamed of this fact, although the fact that retail therapy is more affordable than real therapy is another story for another day.

However, savings has not really been happening.  I’ve always resisted automatic savings for a number of reasons.  Firstly, I have control issues.  I like putting my money in my ING sub-accounts.  Also, at both jobs I’ve had as a full-time employee, my amount per paycheck isn’t set.  However, today I finally decided that enough was enough and I set up two Automatic Savings Plans (ASP) with ING Direct (if you’re interested in an ING direct referral, comment below with your e-mail address).  I shall see how these go, and if they work for me.
