So,apparently it’s too late to be looking for tree lights

by hedy on December 19, 2009

We got our Christmas tree today.  As I was on our porch getting the Christmas tree stand, I saw our tangled lights, and remembered that I wanted to get some new (hopefully eco-friendly!) lights, as I heard you should replace your lights every 3(?) years, and our lights were from “Um, I think we got them when we switched to a real tree.”  We got our tree at Home Depot, they had no lights*.  The salesperson commented that they’d been out “for a while” (interestingly, the dude who sold us our tree commented on our stand-saying there had been sold out of them).  My thought is that Home Depot may have underbought these items due to the recession. We then went on to Rite Aid.

Now, you all know that I’m a big CVS fan.  I recently transferred a couple of my prescriptions to Rite Aid (as I do when I’m eligible to every 6 months).  I was underwhelmed (they did not have THREE of the medications I was filling in stock).  But I tried rite-aid for the lights.  They had some led lights that were a little chunky, but cute (they’re supposed to look like pinecones).  I bought them, despite needing to spoon feed the ditz at the register how to ring up my order. I found Walgreens having boxes of traditional lights for $1.99, but the boxes looked like they had been tossed around like footballs.  If you are wondering about light safety, here’s a good article on it.

*Of course, had I paid attention to my oldest brother’s e-mail, I would have jumped on the bargain on lights he sent out in November.  But it’s a little sister’s prerogative not to listen, right?  LOL.
