Getting Snow Tires

by hedy on November 10, 2008

Yesterday I went to a local shopping center to have snow tires put on my car. This is the first time I’ve had snow tires, but I drive a subcompact and felt like the grip would be good. I went with the Michelin X-Ice, which was a little more expensive than some tires that were on sale, but they’re very popular on the nissanversa.org boards. I had them put on at Sears. I opened a Sears charge for the discount. However, I was appalled by some of the things that went into that-I could choose between the Sears Mastercard or Sears card. The salesguy point out to me that the store card had an interest rate of 28%, where as the Mastercard was 16%. Yipes! I have the money in my car emergency fund, so I debated whether to go with the 6 months 0% interest or money off. I went with the money off. I was approved for $9,000-ridiculous. Also, while I get that salespeople are given incentives to upsell, it seemed a little disturbing that announcements kept on coming over the Intercom-”Mary just saved a customer in women’s fashions $15!”
I was surprised by how busy the mall was, but it’s something of a higher-end mall, so I think they’re not as effected by the current climate. Case in point-I had a girl next to me in Tiffany’s buying a pair of their earrings-for her friend’s sweet sixteen.

What different worlds we live in. I don’t even truly know what snow tires are. :) Probably hard for you to believe, huh?

Lol-they’re tires designed to better grip the road in snow.

Hey, at least they TOLD you about the difference. I once signed up for the card, thought I was getting a regular SEARS store card.
I never recalled signing up for the mastercard, but that’s what I got!
I’m pretty sure they just signed me up for it. Let me tell you how fast THAT account was canceled!
