My mother just has an eye appointment last week-she went to an ophthalmologist for the first time in a while, rather than an optometrist. This was good in that she got more info on her eyes than usual, but she wasn’t able to just hop over to the glasses section to pick out new glasses. She was thinking about hitting a chain store for her glasses, but I’m going to try to convince her to check out Zenni Optical, as featured on the Clark Howard for her eyeglasses-she needs both distance glasses and readers. There are several great pairs of frames (and they just added some more!) she could get for her readers-this pair really looks like something she’d wear
although she would want them in gold. I was very impressed with the quality of the prescription sunglasses I got, so I think these will stand up to the duties of her reading glasses-she’s kind of rough with her glasses. She’s usually weary of ordering stuff online, but I’m sure the fact that Zenni Optical’s been on the Clark Howard show and Fox news, as well as the fact that they have such mind blowing prices due to their low advertising budget and the lack of a middle man, will help her. These glasses are so cheap, she can order a few to keep around as spares-I think they’ll be better than the Target Dollar Spot Spares,
I also hope Zenni Optical’s low prices convince her to pick up a spare pair of distance glasses too. She tends to only wear her distance glasses on occasion (I think she may be worried about losing them-she had a heck of a time finding ones which worked. Come to think of it, that could be a great arguing point in Zenni Optical’s favor-getting glasses that did what she needed them to do last year was crazy. Hopefully she has learned that an optometrist’s input is not always helpful or worthwhile). At Zenni Optical’s prices, she could get a pair of regular distance glasses and sunglasses, or opt for the clip on cover to go with a pair of distance glasses.
Picking out your size with Zenni Optical is easy too-just measure a pair of glasses that fit your face, then mach up that distance. The shapes of glasses are generic enough these days that it is fairly easy to guess the fit.
