So mad at myself
October 29th, 2008 · No Comments
Yesterday I had a message from Sharebuilder. They wanted to let me know I didn’t have the transfer fee-I had thought they would deduct it, but I needed to put it in my Sharebuilder account. So it’s been transferred, and hopefully this is the end and my Roth will get transferred.

Round up of my week re money
October 25th, 2008 · No Comments
I got an e-mail from Fidelity saying my Roth transfer was in process, so that should be done soon, I’d think.
In other news, we went to Trader Joe’s over the weekend, spurned on by their most recent frequent flyer. I was interested by how wink, wink, nudge, nudge soem of their descriptions were-I’ve known [...]

Since I bought my car in 2007, I have tried to educate myself on car care and maintenance. In particular, I am trying to learn what sort of car care I can do and what I should have my mechanic do. Thanks to the Internet, I can not only learn about this [...]

Money Mistakes
October 25th, 2008 · 1 Comment
This week’s (posted on Wednesday, but I’ve had a crazy week!) SquawkBack Wednesday was the three biggest financial mistakes you’ve made. I’d say that mine were:
Running up credit card debt after my father died
Putting money in a CD rather than a high-yield savings account my sophomore year of college
Grossly underestimating the amount in my [...]

I’m very excited-I saw Stephen Sondheim at a local university last night. While it’’s not as cheap as it seemed on the surface-I had a cheap ticket, but I still had to pay to park at the subway (which is going up $2 more at the start of the month!), take said subway, buy [...]

One of my favorite things about being a personal finance blogger? The fact that other PF bloggers read popular personal finance books, so I can decide if I want to read them or not. Single Ma discussed Good Deals and Smart Steals from the editors of Good HouseKeeping. I have determined that [...]

CVS run
October 20th, 2008 · 1 Comment
I made a CVS run yesterday. I’m not one of those hard-core CVS people, but there are a few items (namely Excedrin and my contact solution) that I pick up whenever they are on sake or have an ExtraCareBucks (ECB) promotion. I also took the opportunity to pick up some lip gloss (it was on [...]

Rollover lack of news
October 17th, 2008 · No Comments
I got out of work yesterday and saw I had a voicemail from Fidelity. They had a question about my rollover paperwork. I feel, illogically, like I’d been called to the principal’s office-”I’m a good girl, I dotted my i’s!” I called today-they just had a question about my ING/Sharebuilder account number. So hopefully the [...]

Argh. I’m so annoyed. All year I save up coins in a popcorn bucket to spend on vacation. Beforemy Disney trip last year, I went to Coinstar, and split my money between a gift card to DisneyShopping (for trading pins) and cash. I sucked it up and paid the Coinstar fee (boo hiss, bad PF [...]
