I cannot believe this. The news about American Airlines chosing to no longer be listed on Kayak and Sidestep has me flabbergasted, I believe I’ve expressed my disbelief of some of the choices legacy airlines are making to stay afloat. I try to get it (heck, I was defending JetBlue’s seven dollar blanket earlier today), but I’m appalled that American Airlines withdrew from Kayak.com. While the e-mail I got from American tried to paint this as a good thing, I’m annoyed. I flew AA for the first time in umpteen years in January purely because they had the best rate on Kayak. I doubt I’m alone, especially as airfare rises, I think more travelers will use services like Kayak to get the best fare they can. And, I did book through AA directly, as they had the best rate.
And AA just gets stupider and stupider

You know I rarely use sites like Kayak. I guess I just like surfing the old fashioned way and going to each individual website. I wonder how much of an impact being on Kayak really had on AA’s business.
That’s an interesting point, Cate. Most of the upset seems to come from Kayak users, so it’s kind of a self selecting group.
