try to avoid getting all “the next generation is doomed money-wise,” really. But I saw a t-shirt today that blew my mind. It was in the girls’ section, sized for a nine year old, I’d say. It said I don’t need a piggy bank; I have Mom and Dad. I really wish I was joking. I presume the fact that the store sold them indicates that there’s some sort of market for such a shirt, but who would buy that sort of shirt? I presume (perhaps foolishly) that a girl would not spend her own money on such a garment, so would a parent then buy it for their daughter? I am quite puzzled at what you are teaching your kid if you buy them that shirt. It’s almost more insulting than something that says “Spoiled.” It appears to a)scream that apparently you may be too easy to spend money on your kid, or b) that apparently your kid doesn’t need their own money.
Am I missing something? Is there some fabulous reason to buy your daughter (whether it’s an accident that this tee was in girls’ but the snarky tees in the boys’ section were about video games not piggy banks.
Tell me, dear Internet audience, am I missing something or was this shirt pretty darn messed up?
I don’t mind the moonlit swims, it’s the loop the loop that hurts…

The feminist in me thinks it’s really sexist. Along the lines of “When you get a husban” or whatever

I think the adult version is “I don’t need a piggy bank, I got a suger daddy!”
