On Saturday night, we met my brother and his family at a shopping center for dinner. As there is a Whole Paycheck in this shopping center, and not any really near where I live, I decided to do some shopping. I packed my reusable bags up, so that I could get $.05 per bag off of my order. Most of the items I got were either items I can’t find near me (some frozen Amy’s meals, and tempeh). they had Cliff Zbars (I love their chocolate brownie!) for $.49 each. As my local grocery store has them for $.79, and I’m rarely near a Trader Joe’s (who has them for $.50), I stocked up. I noticed a box of 6 nearby for $4.09. I wonder how many people buy the box of 6 and think it’s a better buy? I’m a huge fan of the unit cost that supermarkets list (a lazy pf blogger’s best friend), but this reminded me that just because something makes sense (buying in bulk), doesn’t make it a good deal.

Great first post!!
Congrats on your first post! I have become so much more aware of whether bulk prices are actually better because in the past I would have just bought it thinking it was better and alot of times it wasn’t. Good Luck!
Great post. And it definitely pays (you) to pay attention to the price per unit versus just accepting that a larger quantity is a better price.
What a great first post for your blog. I can’t wait to read more. Keep it up.
What a deal on cliff bars! In SD the cheapest on cliff bars are .99c each. Otherwise they are 1.39.
