Fall Wardrobe Basics

August 28th, 2007 · 2 Comments

It’s almost that time. Yes, I know you just sent your kids off to school (finally!). However, September is merely a few days away and it starts my favorite fashion season — FALL! There are a few basic clothing items that every woman needs to begin her fall wardrobe with. With these basics, you can mix and match with trendy pieces or stick to what you have to achieve the look that’s right for you.

  • Black pants
  • Khaki pants
  • Dark denim jeans
  • Black skirt
  • Denim jean jacket
  • Black basic t-shirt
  • White basic t-shirt
  • White button down shirt

The great thing about these pieces is that they can dressed up or dressed down depending on the occasion and your personal style. Possible outfit combinations from the above list include:

  •  the black basic t-shirt under the white button down shirt with a pair of dark denim jeans
  • the white basic t-shirt with the denim jacket and a pair of khaki pants
  • and many more!

Next week, I’ll focus on the trends for fall and the items you need to give these basics some color and life!

The denim jacket–I keep seeing those everywhere but have been afraid to get one myself. Any tips on where it should hit? (just above the waist? at the waist? below the waist?).

I personally like my denim jackets to hit right at the top of my hip bone. I have found it really depends a lot on your body type as to where the jacket looks best. The short denim jackets seem to just divide my torso and make my chest look bigger, as well as my waist, neither of which I’m really going for! :) I suggest heading out to the mall and trying jackets on in different lengths to discover which looks best on you!
