Time Is Ticking

Hoo Boy. This is a big year for me.

December 16th will be my 30th birthday, and I am surprisingly looking forward to it. I don’t (yet) get why people freak out over getting older. I suppose if I didn’t have my kids already, I’d be getting antsy. We are in the process of planning to build our first home, and for the first time in years, we have two full time incomes. Life is looking pretty good.

We just recently met with a financial counselor since our taxes will be so different this coming year, and also to get everything in line for mortgage hunting time. He told us that my husband was under insured for life insurance (We know, but Type 1 diabetics don’t get great life insurance amounts) and I am waaaaay under insured, as well as without disability. So that is now our immediate goal. I have to get life insurance quotes NOW before I turn 30, as that seems to be the magic number for companies to jack up their rates.

We also have to revise our wills, which I expected. (Side note, if you have kids, and you don’t have a will, shame on you…get on that today!) The people we had asked to take our kids in the event of our deaths are no longer part of our lives, so we definetly need to fix THAT situation. That is a sad story which I will never get into…trust me.

So. Starting today I am officially in the market for term life insurance, disability insurance, and the possibility of upping my husband’s insurance (unlikely).
