The daunting land of the CPA…

by nicholmom3 on June 19, 2008

My mother is the bookkeeper/office manager for a large construction company on the East Coast. This is really the first job she’s had since receiving her degree 10 years ago that focuses on the bookkeeping aspect. She runs payroll, invoices, budgets…to be honest it is all way over my head.

I’m not very good with numbers. I like having my online banking so I can keep track of my (over)spending, and I have a system to keep track of my bills. Obviously my system wouldn’t work for a large company, I’m sure she must use a budget software. She tries to tell me what she does, but I zone out much like I did in Algebra II.

Sorry mom. I wish I had inherited your head for numbers, but apparently it missed me. I can create a weekly menu in a heartbeat, and get through a daily schedule of dance, PTO, meals, and baseball like a breeze. Just don’t ask me to add in my head.
