That pretty much sums up my weekend! Sounds yummy, and it was.
I closed Friday night, so I didn’t get home until midnight. Of course I was wired and couldn’t fall asleep until 2 am. I had a pedicure scheduled at 11 am with my sister in law, whom I never get to see anymore! The pedi felt so good I decided to get a half manicure as well. I didn’t get any polish, since I can’t wear it to work. But the massage felt nice and the tech cleaned up my cuticles really nicely.
From there I hit Kohls to finish off my Kohls Cash that was going to expire. I had already purchased a dress and undies, and still had enough for earrings and a bracelet! I also picked up a sweet sundress for the Sunshine Rewards Disney Cruise in October.
Whew! It was almost 2 pm, and my day had just begun. I was due at a baby shower for my co-worker at 2, so I ran home to get ready and raced to the shower. It was held at a phenomenal resturaunt that is too expensive for me to normally go to. The shower was incredible! There were passed Lemonade Martini’s (of which I had 5 or 6) that were soooo good and soooo easy to drink. I think I downed at least 3 in the first 20 minutes before I realized what I was doing. Drinks like that are dangerous! I stuck with water for the rest of the shower until the very end when I had one more tini. By then the bartender was on to us and the drinks were noticibly smaller. Probably for the best! The food was incredible, passed fruit and prociutto (the waitress was kind enough to bring me a few spears of fruit minus the ham), a fabulous hot miso spinach dip, artichoke hearts, marinated mushrooms, ect ect…the dessert station had tuxedo strawberries and various pastries, and of course, the cake was strawberry shortcake. I only had a little of that as I knew I had already taken in a buttload of calories!
The party doesn’t end there. After the shower, three of us went DIRECTLY to a fundraiser for the Mass Audaubon Visual Arts Center. We were representing Starbucks and volunteered to serve coffee. As a result, we were invited to attend the function, which included a sushi bar, other appetizer stations, an open bar (gulp) and these tiny little martinis, sampled by a company that makes ORGANIC vodka! They were so. damn. good.
There was a cucumber minitini (they were about the size of a shot) a CHOCOLATE martini, and a tomato mango tini. All were completely organic, and completely fantastic! The name of the company eludes me at the moment, but I’ll be sure to post about it soon. I had more than a couple of those, and helped myself to some of the delicious apps. There was a live jazz trio, silent auction of amazing items, and a live auction, all to benefit the Center. We poured coffee for rich people, and then called it a night.
We then trecked back to Starbucks, where our good friend was getting slammed with customers! So 11:30 at night saw me in a semi formal dress and heels, scurrying around Starbucks trying to clean up. Good Karma!
I finally headed home at midnight, did the bare minimum face wash and toothbrushing, and I don’t remember hitting the pillow….What a day!
