Jon Lester Throws No Hitter For The Red Sox!

by nicholmom3 on May 22, 2008

On May 19, 2008, Jon Lester of the Boston RedSox threw a no hitter against the Kansas City Royals. While a remarkable feat in itself, it was exceptionally special considering the 24 year old pitcher was diagnosed with lymphoma just 2 short years ago. With all he’s gone through so far, it appears Lester has angels on his shoulder.

For Red Sox fans, the game was a sweet one. Lester holds a special place in our hearts, and most of us were happy he is back again this season. Clay Buchholz impressed us last year, and before that the last no-no was Derek Lowe in 2002. No Hitters are always impressive, and quite fun to watch. I especially love the way the crowd reacts to every pitch. A standing ovation, cheering as the pitch is thrown, and a collective oooohhhhhhhh as it is called a ball. The roar rises again, and this time becomes deafening as the second out is called. The final strike, and the crowd goes nuts! Jon Lester’s face was priceless, and I was glad to have caught the game.

It is such a big deal, that you can even purchase the game on iTunes! If you do, be sure to check out Ellsbury’s insane catch in the 4th which helped preserve the no hitter for Lester. We sure have a great team this year!!!

Congrats Jon, you deserve it!
