If you build it, they will come

When I started work full time two years ago, I was shocked to see that my employer did not have a website. He has a small dental practice, and always says that any practice depends on new patients on a regular basis to stay competitive. The majority of our new patients come from referrals, but we are also surrounded by other dentists, so he really needed something else.

When I mentioned a website, he initially balked, thinking the cost would outweigh the benefits for him. Some of his dentist friends have websites professionally done, and they cost a fortune. Of course, they look great, but I explained that it was possible to have a simple, yet effective website that doesn’t cost the bank.

I began with the “free” website space allowed by his web provider. My thought was that I would show him what a clean cut website could do, and then he would invest in a professionally done site. It took me awhile, but I got it done. Since that time, we have received multiple new patients, and also have been placed on the front page of Google searches, something we weren’t before.

My issue now is that the ISP has changed the format of the site builder, and now I am having quite the time keeping up with it. I am pushing for him to find an independant company with an easy website builder that I can use. That way he still maintains control over the site, and I don’t have to do so much work!
