Disney’s latest promo…Give a day, Get a day

by nicholmom3 on September 30, 2009

I’m loving it! Disney’s latest promotion is encouraging people to give a day to an approved charity, and as an incentive they are giving a one day pass to either DisneyLand or DisneyWorld. This excites me for a few reasons.

First, Anything that gets people moving and helping others is a good thing. I’ll agree with those that say volunteering shouldn’t have to come with a reward, but either way you slice it, something good is being done, people will hopefully get the bug and continue doing it! If they also get a day at Disney with their family out of it, more power to them.

What is also nice about this promo is that people can donate their free ticket through Disney. I haven’t seen all the info related to that yet, but I am going on the assumption that donated tickets will allow families that otherwise can’t afford to take their children to WDW to experiance the magic.

Lastly, I won’t be telling my children about the tickets. We are going to do a day of volunteering together, and I will absolutely use the tickets for our planned trip next summer. However, the kids will not find out until they get there. I want them to feel good about helping others on it’s own merit, not because they are going to Disney. I also don’t want them to think that everytime they volunteer they are going to Florida! Though I sure wish that were true.

There is still a ton of info to be released, as the promotion starts in January 2010. I look forward to figuring it all out, and finding the best place for my family to lend a hand!
