ACK! Snow Days Ahead!

December 11th, 2007 · No Comments

It’s that time of year again. The weatherman has begun “predicting” snow and ice storms on a regular basis, and the kids’ minds think of ONE THING….

SNOW DAY!

Snow days are funny. You go to bed after the 10 o’clock news knowing full well that there is a nasty storm on its way. You toss around a little, wondering how bad it is going to get. Finally you fall asleep, only to be woken up by the delighted screeches of your young. Mooooooommmm It’s SNOWING!!! Do we still have to go to SCHOOL???!!???

SO you drag yourself out of bed, bleary eyed and caffeine-less to the TV. You tune to the local news and try to focus on the list that is streaming across the bottom. Finally you get to the area you are waiting for, a kid distracts you for ONE SECOND and bam, you missed it. Now you have to wait alllllllll over again.

My solution? See if your local station has a text or email option for school closings. While it is different for every station, most places will let you log your school(s) and phone or email, and they will send a message letting you know if your school has been closed or delayed. My local station sends the information shortly after they receive it, so I don’t have to watch the TV, and I don’t have to miss the school, and I DON’T have to get out of bed!!! (that’s the best part!)

So throw a movie on, and curl back up in bed. The kids have a snow day, and you can figure out what the heck you are going to do with them later.
