This economy has everyone and just about everything down in the dumps. There are some upsides though to the slump. “Stay-cations” are popular, with people staying close to home instead of jet setting around. Shop the off season. There are windows of time where people don’t go to certain locales due to the weather. for instance, many people avoid the islands this time of year due to the hurricane season. However, if you were to book a trip at the tail end of the season, you will take advantage of the lower prices, and lessen the risk of bumping into a hurricane on your trip. Or you could take a beach vacation in the winter! I know, doesn’t sound optimal, does it? Do yourself a favor. Check out the luxury homes in the Carolinas. These are serious Outer Banks rentals. Just for Christmas week alone you can rent a 14!!! bedroom and bathroom home for 4K. Get a couple families together and you have one heck of a vacation going. This place even has a theater room! Find a place with a heated pool and the kids won’t care about not going to the beach. Plus all these places will be decorated for the holidays, so you can live like a king for the price of a pauper.
Don’t forget to search around for package deals for getaways close to you. Lot’s of places are combining hotel and tickets to various events to draw in customers. You can get a package for a major city and take the kids for a holiday weekend.
Remember, you don’t have to fly somewhere to get away. All it takes is going somewhere comfortable and different, and leave the blackberry at home….
Okay, at least leave it in the hotel safe.
