2010 will be better…cause it HAS to.

I am so blessed. Trust me when I say that. My family has thus far weathered the storm very well, we have jobs, a home, and everyone is healthy.  My extended family and friends have not been so lucky, and I take that very seriously. We have cousins that have been out of work all year, friends that are so close to losing thier business, divorces, and illnesses have been rampant.

Everyone in the job market is hitting the same wall. There is always someone next to you that will take less money, or fewer benefits. People making six figures last year are working at the mall this year. At the charity we volunteered at we heard of numerous families who donated last year, only to find themselves in need this year.  Talking to my cousin I was asking him what he was doing in his job search. He replied that he had deleted just about everything from his social sites, offered to work for free for a few weeks, networked with every single person he knew, and underwent a pre-employment screening to save potential employers a step. Hopefully he will find something soon!

I pray every day that next year is better in small ways and large. I hope everyone continues to donate to food pantries and charities long after the holidays are gone. Little things we do might not seem like much to us, but every little thing adds up, and if everyone contributes, everyone succeeds.
