I Love These Cups

Do you use silicone bakeware?  It’s been around for a while now, and I know that a lot of people love it and wouldn’t use anything else.  I, however, am a traditionalist that has never thought about using anything but the old metal, nonstick bakeware.  That has definitely changed!  I received a set of Wilton Easy Flex Silicone Baking Cups 12 Count for Christmas.  My mother had tucked them into my goodie bag along with several other gifts and gadgets.  It is a set of twelve in four pastel colors.  I put them away along with all of my other gifts and forgot about them.

Last night, I had planned a meal that included corn muffins and realized at the last minute that I was fresh out of the paper muffin cups.  I had just reached for the nonstick cooking spray to coat my muffin tins, when I remembered those new silicone muffin cups.  To my delight, they fit perfectly in my muffin pan and held the same amount of batter as the others.  I popped them in the oven and followed the baking time for my recipe.  The muffins were beautiful when the oven beeped.  They were golden brown and perfectly baked.  Now, I am sceptical of new technology sometimes.  If the old way works, why change? Right!  So, I was certain that with everything perfect to this point, the one thing that would go terribly wrong with these things is that the corn bread would be stuck with no hope of coming out of those cups in the shape of anything that resembled a muffin.  Much to my surprise, they fell out!  All I did was take them out of the muffin tin and put them on a cooling rack.  It was awesome!  It was amazing!  It was so much better than the old way!  You heard me!  It was so much better than the old way!  To top it off, clean up was a breeze.  I’m a convert for sure.  If you haven’t tried the silicone bakeware, you should.  You’ll love it!  Try starting with the Wilton Easy Flex Baking Cups.  I’ve added a link and picture below.

 Happy Baking!

Oh those look so cool. I am a bit skepical of silicone as well for the same reasons you state. I’m just too much of a traditionalist. I will say that I did breakdown and got a muffin pan last year at the after Christmas sale at Crate and Barrel and I did like the way it cooked. It was just a tad difficult to pop the muffins out of without breaking the shape. I guess it just takes some time and some learning.
