Ugh! I should join the circus because I have become quite the juggler. Between two kids, school activities, sports, church, social events, work, holiday parties, shopping, cleaning, and the list goes on and on, it is no wonder that I am ready to fall into bed at the end of the day. I don’t know if it is shear exhaustion from the list of things accomplished during any given day or the mental stress of keeping everything in order. It seems daunting some days to ensure that my jr. high son gets homework complete before taekwondo practice while my 4th grade daughter attends a newspaper meeting for school prior to literally jumping into a soccer uniform for a game that starts half way across town at the same time her brother needs picked up. Oh and by the way, neither one of them has had any dinner! Am I a single mother you might ask? NO! But, I might as well be. As well intentioned, loving, and committed as my husbad is, it just doesn’t seem that he is equipped with what it takes to keep everyone on track. In fact, he called me just last night to see if he could help our son with a Boy Scouts of America event. I said, “Sure, sounds like fun. What day is it on?” He replied, “Next Friday.” I nearly fell in the floor laughing. This is the same night as the biggest event that his company hosts all year, the annual holiday party. So, you see, I even have to make sure he doesn’t miss a beat.
Thank goodness for the family calendar. Ours hangs on the side of the refrigerator. It has each day filled in with school, church, sports, and social activities. It is supposed to help everyone stay organized. Unfortunately, this only works if you make an effort to consult the calendar. I look at it often and even have it memorized a week in advance. It’s no wonder I can’t remember the last time I shaved my legs or whether I sent Aunt Carolyn a birthday card. I hope I’m not alone in this crazy schedule juggling act.
I am just one everyday mom trying to stay organized enough for everyone!

nah, this doesn’t sound familiar at ALL!
(I had to buy one of those massive desk calendars for our wall, just to fit it all in legibly)

I set up a family yahoo calendar….guess who the only one is that updates it or even READS it?? Yeah, hubby just can’t seem to get the knack of actually consulting the calendar before making plans or committing us to something
