Power - lots of power - that’s what’s in the Disney name. I came across an interesting article on Business Week that has me really thinking about the Disney name and its power. The article centers around The Jonas Brothers and their rise to fame with the power of Disney backing them. I did not even realize that The Jonas Brothers had been on the musical scene pri0r to their Disney fame, but they actually already had an album out (that was not making a lot of money) before Disney picked them up. The first album sold 65,000 copies, and the second (backed by Disney), Jonas Brothers, has already sold 1.1 million copies. Can you see the dollar signs?
Thanks to Disney, the Jonas brothers have gone from a band that radio stations didn’t want to EVER play to one that fans are requesting constantly and being played very often.
