The Busy Life of a Single Mom

Well here we are to another Monday. I love it. My favorite tv night of the week - Dancing with the Stars. Here’s my opinions (typed as they dance):

Kristi Yamaguchi & Mark Ballas - ( 10, 9, 10 ) Amazing every time. I don’t know what else to say about their paso doble. It seems like she is better everytime, and it’s hard to believe that she can continue to get better, but she somehow manages it. I hate to predict that she is going to win this prematurely (I still fear a turnout like Sabrina), but at this point there’s no doubt in my mind (whether or not she takes the trophy home or not) that Kristi is the best dancer in this competition right now. Priscilla Presley & Louie van Amstel ( 7, 7, 8 ) - Dancing the viennese waltz and still nice precise dancing, but I so wish she could show some emotion on her face. I don’t see how the judges can talk about her great facial expressions and such because I see NONE!  (1-800-868-3410)

Adam Corolla & Julianne Hough - ( 6, 7, 6 ) Is Adam becoming a dancer? He seemed much more so tonight dancing the paso doble. By no means do I think he compares to Kristi, but he is improving dramatically. Isn’t that part of the point of this competition? To see the celebrities become dancers. I think maybe the judges are a little too harsh on him. If he could just keep his mouth closed I think he would be so much more well perceived. Poor Julianne. (1-800-868-3404)

Marlee Matlin & Fabian Sanchez ( 8, 8, 8 ) - Tonight they are dancing the viennese waltz. She still amazes me. Maybe she’s not the best, but she’s in the top and I know she doesn’t get judged on her deafness, but I’m still so amazed by her every week. I just don’t see how she does it. Superb job. I really hope she sticks around for a while. (1-800-868-3412)

Mario & Karina Smirnoff - ( 8, 7, 9 ) After last week, I’m interested in seeing this dance. I was overall happy with Mario until last week and saw him making it into the family three (4 at worst), but last week, I wasn’t so sure. I think the original Mario may be back tonight in the paso doble. He was back to looking polished and charismatic. Yea Mario! Stay focused and continue improving.  (1-800-868-3405)

Jason Taylor & Edyta Sliwinska - ( 10, 9, 10 ) Wow. I have to say dancing the viennese waltz was much more impressive to me than Mario’s paso doble. I didn’t agree with Len when he was critiquing Mario, but now that I’ve seen this side of Jason, I have to agree. We need to see another style from these men. Jason is good at fast dances and he did an awesome job I thought at this beautiful waltz. (1-800-868-3402)

Christian de la Fuente & Cheryl Burke - ( 9, 8, 9 ) Danced the paso doble and did it with style. I think Cheryl must be an amazing dancer and teacher. It seems that season after season she works miracles. Her dancers always seem to improve every time we see them. I thought Christian did a great job of showing the passion the paso doble demanded. Shannon Elizabeth & Derek Hough - ( 9, 10, 9 ) I didn’t like Shannon at all the first show, but she has grown on me to the point that I’m pulling for her (or maybe I’m pulling for Derek - he’s really cute too). I do enjoy watching her dance. I was very concerned this week knowing about Derek’s injury, but I thought they did a super job. If no one has told us about the accident, I’m not sure if I could have told from their performance. (1-800-868-3407)

Marissa Jaret Winokur & Tony Dovolani- ( 8, 8, 8 ) Dancing the paso doble. Well, I think this dance suits Marissa better, but I would rather see her push herself and show a different Marissa than the one with energy. I was hoping that she’d waltz, but she has such a charisma that I want to vote for her every week even though I wholeheartedly admit she’s not the strongest dancer. She has a chemistry that just shouts out to me. What I would really like to see is her forget about those judges and just relax. She did a great job with the paso doble. The “sunshiney” side of her was gone - she totally adopted the right persona. Good job Marissa and thank you judges for finally recognizing her as being one of the best dancers. (1-800-868-3409)

So who will go home? I’ve decided I think we should vote for the couple to go home instead of the couple that stays. I’m almost always more sure of that. Tune in tomorrow to see if your favorites stay another week or head to the house. Sheryl Crowe will also be on tomorrow night.
