Middle of the Summer Checklist for Moms

by +Tricia on July 14, 2011

We’re halfway through the summer and its time to start taking stock of where we are, how much time we have left, and what is coming up. Here are some things to think about:

1) Are the kids starting to get back into reading and math if they took a break after school got out? At a minimum they should be reading 10 minutes a day and doing some math worksheets or flash cards here or there.

2) Is your school supply list posted somewhere? Many schools post them online by the middle of the summer. Start looking for Back to School deals now to save money in the long run.

3) Did you make the kids any promises that you haven’t kept yet? For example, promising to make stones for the garden or a visit to a local park? Make sure to schedule in anything that you want to do before it is too late.

4) If your kids are doing a summer reading program, are they on pace to complete it at least a few days before school starts? You don’t want to get to those last few days and be scrambling with everything else that is going on.

5) Have you checked your school’s website for important information? Some are already listing class schedules, bus routes, Meet the Teacher dates, etc.

We all like to pretend that the end of summer isn’t coming, but we are better off being prepared.
